"A Good Citizen Passes
Away
Mr. Ben Huxford, A Well Known Turpentine Operator dies of Typhoid Fevor. It is with sincere sorrow we have to announce to readers of the Sentinel that death of one of our best citizens. Mr. Ben Huxford who had been sick with fever for some four weeks died yesterday at 2pm. Besides the fever he had a complication of diseases he said from the beginning of his illness that he would take any medicine they wished him to but he would never get well, he improved under the treatment of skilful physicians he seemed to grow seriously worse only a few hours before his death and passed away we trust to a better world than this. In this he had the friendship and good will of all who knew him. He was not only generous but liberal to a fault and was ever ready and willing to help those who were needy or in trouble, and many times he paid large fines for those who had transgressed the law and who was not able to pay themselves and who drew the sympathy of his 'kindest' of hearts. He leaves a wife and six children, brothers, sisters, many other relatives and a host of friends, all of which the Sentinel extends sincere sympathy."
Benjamin Huxford's obituary was published in The Jesup Sentinel (GA), August 9, 1900. |
