| "Peter Huxford, Jr., son
of Peter Huxford Sr., was born Dec 2nd, 1822, and married Lydia A. Calvitt,
daughter of John Calvitt. They had twelve children, viz: Ransom (died
young), Amarintha, Minnie, Joseph, Benjamin, Calvitt, Ellen, Annie,
Sallie, Louisa J. (died girlhood), Peter O., and Harlock H. Huxford. The
elder Huxford was baptized in 1842 by Rev. Hiram Leroy and was a member of
the Mt. Olivitt Church. He died abt. 1896 and is buried in the cemetery of
the old Church of England at St. Stephens, S.C." (Source 1)
"The children of Peter and Lydia A. Huxford and their descendants, are now numerous in South Carolina, while some have settled in Georgia, Florida and Alabama. Calvitt Huxford now lives at Homerville, GA. Joseph Huxford lives on the old home place in Berkeley Co., S.C. Benjamin Huxford died in Wayne Co., GA in 1900. Harlock H. Huxford died at the age of 30 in the U.S. Army and is buried at Andersonville, GA. There are now five children living of Peter and Lydia A. Huxford. Calvitt Huxford was many years in the turpentine business in which he became quite successful, likewise his brother Benjamin Huxford. Folks Huxford, the son of Calvitt Huxford, is now the clerk of the county commissioners of Clinch Co., GA." (Source 1)
